A healthy Christmas doesn’t mean missing out on the festive fun – it’s about balance and making mindful choices! Here’s how you can enjoy the season while staying on track with your fitness goals, with tips inspired by us at Cynergi Health and Fitness Club in Malta:
1. Stick To Your Fitness Routine
It’s the holidays and we know you’ve got a few days off from work or school. You might feel like kicking back and relaxing, which you do deserve! But taking too much time off might make you fall into laziness, which, in turn, you might feel like avoiding the gym. We here at Cynergi encourage you to hit the gym anyway! Not only is it important to continue with your fitness journey, but you also don’t want to fall out of routine. This will only make it harder to get back on track when the holidays are over.
2. Eat Healthy
It’s that time of year when you feel like eating Christmas Log and hot chocolate. It’s fine to let yourself indulge a bit, but don’t overdo it! The holidays can be a tempting time when you let loose but it is important to eat in moderation. And not just during Christmas time, but really, all year around.
3. Alternative Ways To Exercise
Although we love seeing your faces in the gym, Christmas time is always a social time of the year when everybody’s busy and so available. So, instead of planning to meet up at a cafe for coffee, why not plan to go for a walk instead? Not only will you get to meet up with your friends and exercise, but you’ll also get some fresh air in the process which is so good for your mental health.
4. Don’t Overdo It With Alcohol
Alcohol contains a lot of sugar and although sugar is ok to consume daily, too much of it can cause a lot of havoc. So, imagine getting yourself a vodka Red Bull. Did you know that a can of Red Bull alone has 27 grams of sugar? Yes, that’s bad. Sugar increases your heart rate which can cause high blood pressure. Plus, it makes your skin dry. Like we said earlier, during healthy Christmas consumption with moderation is totally ok!
5. Prioritise Mental Health
Above all, do take this time to reflect and set realistic goals for your healthy Christmas holidays. Accept that this season is for enjoyment, not for strict diets or heavy training schedules. Also, take a moment to manage your stress (perhaps use our spa facilities!)
Finally, Christmas is a time for celebration and connection. By staying mindful, you can enjoy all the joys Malta has to offer without compromising your health or well-being.
With the new year around the corner, you might as well also set some goals for the New Year with Cynergi’s personal trainers. They can help you create a program tailored to your holiday recovery and fitness aspirations.
